A security expert, Ladi Thompson has said that the chain of command in Nigeria’s Military should be deconstructed in order to win the fight against insurgency.
Thompson said this while speaking during an Arise News programme monitored by THIS NIGERIA on Friday.
He further compared the challenges being faced by the country as a hydra, a many-headed serpent in Greek mythology.
“We are dealing with something that is intelligent. It infiltrated Nigeria decades ago. It has a displacement sequence but uses terror. What you are seeing in Nigeria is the clinical use of terror to subjugate and break the will of the nation.
“The interesting thing about this new war form is that it has recognisable patterns. It is predictable, it can be tracked. It uses asymmetrical warfare. That alone will puzzle the Military of any nation. If you try to checkmate it with the Military, you are automatically at a disadvantage,” he said.

Thompson stated further that a country needs to deconstruct its Military’s chain of command in order to fight the insurgents.
“This will enable decisions to be made effectively and quickly. The fluidity in the chain of command will ensure speedy actions and whoever takes a decision will be responsible for it. “In order to succeed in this fight, there has to be cooperation between all the security agencies,” he said.
