
A Federal High Court in Ibadan, on Friday, sentenced a 22-year-old drug dealer, Tunde Adeyemo, to four months’ imprisonment for unlawful possession of one kilogramme of Indian Hemp.
Justice Patricia Ajoku said that the court convicted Adeyemo based on his guilty plea and evidence before the court.
The judge said that the court was lenient on the convict.
“This judgment is in consideration of plea for mercy by Adeyemo and that he has shown enough remorse to subsequently be of good behaviour.

“Therefore, he is sentenced to four months in prison from the date he was arrested and detained.
“Weeds exhibit found in his possession shall be destroyed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA),” the judge said.
Earlier, counsel to the NDLEA, Mr Raphael Himikaiye, reminded the court that the convict was arraigned on a-count charge of unlawful deal on illicit drug.
According to Himikaiye, Adeyemo committed the crime at Sawmill-Owode in Oyo Town, on Jan. 3, at 10:30 a.m.
He said that NDLEA operatives apprehended the convict after concerned members of the community alerted the agency that an unlawful act was taking place there.
The prosecution counsel noted that drug trafficking was contrary to and punishable under Section 11 (C ) of the NDLEA Act of 2004.
