Man jumps into Lagos lagoon from Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge

 

In what may be described as a suicide mission, a yet-to-be identified man has jumped into the Lagos Lagoon from the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge on Tuesday, August 8.

Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the incident to newsmen.

Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that operatives of LASEMA Rescue Unit were on the ground along with Marine Police on a search and rescue mission.

It was gathered that the area has been condoned off by the police as frantic efforts were being made to see if the man could be retrieved from the water alive.

Speaking on the development, the spokesperson of the police in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, said policemen were currently at the scene to manage the crowd.

 

Hundeyin said; “Our men are there, controlling the crowd as other rescue teams arrive.”
