A Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) driver simply identified as Wale was attacked by an unidentified man in Lagos.
According to our correspondent who witnessed the incident, it occurred on Monday around 6 pm along Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi.
It was gathered that the assaulter tried to overtake the BRT without notice, which led to a confrontation between him and the assaulted driver.
“The man tried to overtake the BRT driver but he was not allowed. He then forced his way and halted abruptly in front of the bus, alighted from his car, and started raining curses on the driver.
“The driver responded to him then the man put his hand through the bus window, slapped him, and smashed the bus window with his hand, resulting in serious injuries inflicted on himself and the BRT driver,” our correspondent reported.
Some security operatives and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) promptly arrived at the scene to de-escalate the situation.
“If we didn’t arrive at the scene sooner, some traffic robbers at that area would have taken advantage of the situation to rob the passengers on that bus and cause further damage,” a LASTMA official said.
