A former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has urged the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), to install sensors to detect explosives planted on rail tracks across the country.
Sani made the call following the suspension of operations by the NRC after an attack on an Abuja-bound train by bandits.
ThisNigeria reported that bandits detonated explosives on the tracks serving the Abuja-Kaduna line on Wednesday.
Sani also revealed on Thursday that his train escaped derailment after running over a portion of the rail tracks damaged by the bandits.

Reacting to the suspension of operations, Shehu Sani tweeted: “The suspension of the railway services by the NRC is the safest thing to do for now.
“The next is to install the sensors to detect any explosive planted along the rail tracks.
“Flying to Kaduna is the next option while hoping that the road from the airport to the city will be secured.”
