McPherson varsity appoints second substantive librarian

The Management of McPherson University has appointed Dr Jerome Idiegbeyan-Ose as the second substantive university librarian.

In a letter dated April 9 and signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Rev. Dr. Babatunde Idowu, the appointment was made during the board meeting on March 13.

The letter read in part, “I have the pleasure to inform you that the Board of Trustees of McPherson University, at its meeting of March 13, 2025, approved the recommendations of the Selection Panel of the Governing Council that you be appointed as the University Librarian.”

Idiegbeyan-Ose is a highly experienced and dedicated professional with over two decades of expertise in Library and Information Science, academic leadership, and institutional development.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science from Edo State University, Ekpoma, in 1999, and a Master’s degree in the same field from the University of Ibadan in 2007.

He obtained his PhD in Information Resources Management (Library and Information Science) from Babcock University (2017).

He is a registered member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) and the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), and he holds the title of Certified Librarian of Nigeria (CLN).

Ahead of his appointment as the Institution’s Librarian, Idiegbeyan-Ose has had credible stints in other tertiary institutions, such as Wolex Polytechnic, Lagos (2002–2003, Librarian/Lecturer); Benson Idahosa University, Benin City (2003–2011); Covenant University, Ota (2011–2018); and Landmark University, Omu-Aran (2018–2020), where he served as University Librarian before taking on his most previous role as Polytechnic Librarian, Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji (2020–2025).

Armed with years of impactful leadership, innovation, and commitment to academic excellence, Idiegbeyan-Ose is expected to make transformative contributions to McPherson University Library when he formally resumes duties on May 2.
