The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Lucky Irabor, says the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) are committed to sustaining the collaborative healthcare arrangement with the National Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).

A statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the Acting Director, Defence Information, Air Commodore Wap Maigida, quoted Irabor as making the disclosure during a visit by the management team of the healthcare agency.

He said the collaboration was to further improve healthcare services for armed forces personnel and their families.

The CDS commended NPHCDA for championing the eradication of poliovirus and other childhood diseases in the country.

The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, NPHCDA, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, solicited the support of the military towards ensuring that children in the various areas affected by insecurity were vaccinated against any form of the disease, especially the mutating poliovirus.

Shuaib said that NPHCDA and its partners were working to reach security compromised locations so as to halt the scourge.

He commended the CDS for his pragmatic leadership and commended the resilience and gallantry of the troops of the AFN in the theatres of operations.
