
A human rights advocate, Barrister Abdul Mahmud, has said there is no difference between military regimes and grab-and-run democracy.
Mahmud was speaking on the recent coup that rocked Gabon, ousting President Ali Bongo.
In a tweet on his X handle, the columnist said, he is opposed to military regimes as he’s opposed to grab-and-run democracy.

He wrote, “G.O. opposed to military regimes as he’s opposed to grab-and-run democracy. The next stage of the struggle in Africa will be to demilitarise and liberalise democracy through popular struggle.
“Military regimes and grab-and-run democracy are same of same. G.O sG.O.ds by his tweets. Our task is to uproot illiberal democracy everywhere and plant popular democracy.”
