Mimicking Davido was to get attention for my music, skitmaker Nasboi

Popular Nigerian skit maker, Nasiru Lawal, also known as Nasboi, has revealed in a recent interview that his mimicry of Davido was initially aimed at gaining the singer’s attention for his music career.
According to Nasboi, the video led him to transition into skit making, where he distinguished himself with unique character portrayals and storytelling.
In the viral video, he also state that he doesn’t hawk women.
“In 2014, I got signed as a musician to renowned Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde.
“I delved into something that I like, photography, I had passion for photography a whole lot.
“One random day, I was sitting in the car, and I decided to mimic Davido.
“The reason why I mimic Davido wasn’t for skit making, I was just mimicking Davido to get his attention for my music, that was the plan.
“I posted this video on my Instagram and I had like 130 comments.
“I’m just one very unique guy, apart from that I play so many characters, my stories are quite different, I don’t hawk women, I just do nice skits.
“I was embedded in Nollywood movies, I watched a lot of Nollywood.
“It’s not like I don’t use women in my skits, It’s not like I don’t act with women, but then I don’t sexualize women,” He said.
