Mixed reactions trail Obi’s visit to Atiku

The meetings between the former presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi have generated mixed reactions from political stakeholders in Nigeria.

Atiku had on Wednesday posted the pictures of the duo on his verified X account, disclosing that he hosted Obi on Monday at his place of residence.

The post which showed Obi and Atiku exchanging handshakes was captioned, “It was my honour and privilege to host @PeterObi today. – AA”.

The post have continued to generate mixed reactions as some Nigerians believe that the two strong politicians can kick out incumbent President Bola Tinubu while others think the unity is not in the interest of the country.

An actress and Founder, Pull-Up Naija, Hauwa Allahbura, described the duo as criminals saying, “Wow. So great to see the structure of criminality shaking the hands of the narcissistic new order and lovers of Nigeria.”

A netizen, Chigozirim Aliyu Emeakayi, knocked Obi and claimed that he destroys any party he joins.

Suggesting that the duo will team up in 2027, the netizen said, “Now Peter Obi has left Labour Party after achieving his devilish motives. But all these don’t matter. In 2027, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi will be disgraced once again.”

Queen Bee wrote, “Anything less than Atiku throwing his weight behind Peter Obi for Presidency in 2027 will not be acceptable. Atiku must play the fatherly role now and not allow (Nyesom) Wike’s plan be actualised in 2027.”

“The earlier we realize the system is not working, the better. All hands must be on deck to steer this faltering ship to safety,” Femi Obaf wrote.

A user with the name, Otunba advised either of the politicians to drop his ambition to deputise the other.

“If Atiku and Peter Obi work together in 2027 they’ll kick Bola Tinubu out,” he wrote.
