Mohbad: Court remands Naira Marley, Sam Larry, others in prison custody for 21 days

Marlian record label boss, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry has been remanded in police custody by a Magistrate Court sitting in the Yaba area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that the Lagos State Police Command requested that Naira Marley and the others be remanded for 30 days pending the completion of their investigation.

The Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, however, ruled that Fashola and the others be remanded for just 21 days.

Recall that Naira Marley on Tuesday announced his return to Nigeria to aid the investigation of Mohbad’s death.

The controversial singer disclosed the news about his return in a post on Tuesday via his account on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter).

He wrote, “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”

Also, the Lagos state police command has declared Primeboy, a friend of the late singer Mohbad, wanted.

Primeboy, Owodunni Ibrahim, is a person of interest in the death of Mohbad, 27.
The street pop singer died on September 12 and was buried the next day.
There were, however, insinuations on social media that Mohbad and Primeboy had a rift before his demise — a rumour the singer’s friend denied.
In a statement via X on Wednesday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police spokesperson, said Primeboy failed to comply with the invitation regarding an investigation into Mohbad’s death.

In the statement, with detailed information about the suspect, the police offered a reward of N1 million to anyone with useful information that would lead to his arrest.

“Following his failure to honour police invitation successfully sent to him since the commencement of investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of Mr Ilerioluwa Aloba, the Lagos State Police Command hereby declares wanted Owodunni Ibrahim aka Primeboy,” the statement reads.

“Ibrahim is approximately 1.64-m tall, male, dark-complexioned with tribal marks and Yoruba by tribe. His last known address is 3rd Power, Oke Eletu, Ikorodu.

“If seen, contact the nearest police station or call 0803 688 5727. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, hereby offers a handsome reward of N1,000,000 (One Million Naira Only) to anyone with useful information leading to his arrest.”
Thousands of Nigerians have demanded justice for Mohbad in nationwide protests.
On September 18, the Lagos police inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe the singer’s death.

Idowu Owohunwa, the state commissioner of police, vowed that the command will use all its powers to fish out everyone indicted in the case.

On September 21, the police exhumed Mohbad’s corpse for autopsy and are awaiting the results.
