The Nigerian Air Force on Wednesday allayed the fear of residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the adjourning cities of Kaduna and Nasarawa States, over the persistent hovering of its aircraft.

The Service urged residents of the concerned cities not to panic, as its platforms are on rehearsal missions, ahead of the 2022 Nigeria Independence Day Celebration scheduled to hold on 1 October 2022 at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Director of Public Relations & Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet said this in a statement in Abuja.

“Nigerians should, therefore, not panic on sighting the aircraft but go about their lawful businesses with a sense of pride and confidence that their Air Force will always have their back,” the statement reads in part.

Air Commodore Gabkwet, further explained: “The 2022 Nigeria Independence Day Celebration is scheduled to hold on 1 October 2022 at Eagle Square, Abuja and part of activities lined up for the Celebration include aerial displays by Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft. Accordingly, the likelihood of various NAF aircraft on rehearsal flights in and around Abuja skies from now till 1 October 2022 is inevitable”.
