The National Association of Seadogs (NAS), also known as Pyrates Confraternity, on Thursday visited the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory Command, Ahmed Sanusi (Ph.D), ahead of its Quarter 3 Pyrates Working Council meeting scheduled to hold in Abuja.

The delegation, led by NAS Cap’n, Dr Joseph Oteri, alongside other national officers, said the visit was part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with the police and ensure adequate security coordination for the national event being hosted by Sahara Deck in Abuja.

Speaking during the courtesy visit, Oteri said the association considered it necessary to engage the FCT Police Command in line with its commitment to orderly and lawful conduct.

“Our visit is to strengthen collaboration with the FCT Police Command and to ensure that our forthcoming Quarter 3 Pyrates Working Council meeting in Abuja is conducted in a safe, peaceful, and orderly manner,” he said.

He explained that the association had already put in place modalities to guarantee hitch-free activities during the event.

“We have outlined comprehensive measures to ensure all our programmes and engagements comply with established regulations, while also prioritising public safety and effective coordination,” Oteri added.

The NAS leader noted that strategic engagement with security agencies remained vital to the successful execution of large-scale civic activities.

Responding, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Sanusi, commended the association for what he described as a proactive and responsible approach.

“We welcome this engagement and commend the National Association of Seadogs for taking deliberate steps to work closely with the Command ahead of its activities,” Sanusi said.

He assured the delegation of the police command’s support.

“The FCT Command remains committed to supporting lawful civic engagements and will collaborate with your organisation to ensure the success of your forthcoming meeting and future programmes,” he stated.

Sanusi further stressed the importance of sustained partnerships between security agencies and civic organisations in promoting peace and public safety.

“This visit reflects the value of strategic partnerships in strengthening community engagement and advancing coordinated security efforts,” he added.

The meeting highlighted the significance of cooperation between organised civic groups and law enforcement agencies, particularly in ensuring seamless planning and security for national gatherings within the FCT.
