
Following the leaking of the roof of the National Assembly Complex on Tuesday the Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Wednesday, said that the National Assembly Complex is overdue for rehabilitation.
Lawan speaking at the House warned the media to seek the truth, investigate properly before compiling reports.
He also said that it is a known fact that the National Assembly Complex which is also called White House is overdue for rehabilitation.
“Everyone knows that this place is overdue for rehabilitation. We went to see Mr President and he was gracious and he asked us to meet with FCTA, the owners of the building. He said
Media houses had reported that the White House which accommodates the House of Representatives and the Sante Chamber which was built twenty years ago was flooded and a number of cleaners were seen scooping water from the floor on Tuesday morning.
Lawan further said that the leakage is a clear testimony, confirmation, and vindication of the position the National Assembly took initially.
He said: “Let me advise the media, this is irresponsible. I must say, seek the truth, investigate properly before you compile and send your report.

“Myself, the Speaker, late Chief of Staff and Minister of Finance met to look for money for the rehabilitation of the National Assembly.
“When the N37billion was approved it was not a National Assembly budget, it was an FCDA budget.
“We expect the press to inform the people responsibly.
“This house is the house of Nigerians. It belongs to Nigerians and it deserves to be rehabilitated.”
