The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the nation’s telecommunications sector through policies that foster a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient communications ecosystem capable of driving Nigeria’s digital economy.

The commitment was outlined in resolutions adopted at the 109th Meeting of the Commission’s Governing Board, held on May 29, 2026, and subsequently issued by the Office of the Commission Secretary.

According to the Commission, its regulatory focus will remain firmly on creating an enabling environment that supports innovation, investment, and digital transformation, while ensuring that consumers receive quality services across telecommunications networks.

The NCC identified Quality of Service and network resilience as key priorities, stressing the need for operators to improve service delivery and strengthen infrastructure to guarantee reliable connectivity for individuals, businesses and government institutions.

The Commission also reiterated its determination to deepen consumer protection measures and enhance transparency across the industry. It noted that safeguarding the interests of telecom subscribers remains central to its regulatory mandate as the sector continues to expand.

In addition, the NCC pledged to promote fair competition and enforce market discipline among operators, emphasising that a healthy and competitive marketplace is essential for sustainable growth, innovation and increased access to digital services.

Industry stakeholders have welcomed the Commission’s renewed focus on strengthening regulatory oversight, noting that improved service quality, stronger consumer safeguards and enhanced network reliability are critical to unlocking the full potential of Nigeria’s digital economy.

The Commission maintained that its strategic priorities are designed to support national development objectives by ensuring that telecommunications infrastructure and services remain accessible, affordable and dependable for all Nigerians.

The Office of the Commission Secretary issued the resolutions following the conclusion of the Governing Board’s 109th Meeting held on May 29, 2026.
