
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has confirmed the death of Prof. Godswill Obioma.
Obioma was reported to have died in his house on London Street, Dutsen Kura area of Minna, Niger, on Monday evening after a brief illness.
NECO in a statement on Tuesday enjoined all its staff to remain calm and prayed for the soul of the dead.
The statement signed by Mustapha K Abdul NECO’s Director Human Resource Management quoted the family said that Professor Obioma died after a brief illness.
Confusion over NECO Registrar, Prof. Obioma’s death
The family of the deceased said “Dear Sir, this is to formally inform you that my father, Prof. Godswill Obioma, the Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO has passed to eternal glory yesterday 31/5/2021 after a brief illness.
“We request that you kindly notify the board, management and the entire staff of the council of this development. We shall keep you duly informed”.
Obioma was appointed on the May 15, 2020 via a letter with Reference No: FME/PS/396/C1/1/134 signed by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu.
The appointment of the late Obioma, 67, for an initial of five-year tenure, took effect from May 14, 2020.
