New all-time high of 5,459.50 MW set in power sector

In an all-time high, the power sector has generated a national all-time peak of 5,459.50 MW.

This was contained in the statement issued by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) General Manager of Public Affairs, Ms Ndidi Mbah.

In the statement, she mentioned that the new record was set on October 28 and that the power generated was efficiently transmitted through the nation’s transmission grid at a frequency of 50.26Hz by 8:15 pm on October 28.

She further said that the transmission milestone is higher than any peak recorded in Nigeria’s power sector to date. She said it exceeded the 5,420 MW of August 18 by 39.20 MW.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director TCN, Sule Abdulaziz, has commended everyone in the power sector value chain for the achievement. He notes that the gradual and steady improvement was due in no small measure to collaboration by sector players.

In addition, he says that the Federal Government’s unbridled effort through the Ministry of Power has been a key contributing factor. He commended them for setting the right environment for seamless operations.

He expressed hope that the stakeholders would continue to work together towards ensuring the continued increase in the quantum of power available to consumers nationwide.

He adds that TCN is committed to working with the generation and distribution companies (discos) to ensure sustained improvement in the power sector.
