Niger govt. commence training on leadership skills for 100 youths

The Niger State Government has commenced a three-day leadership skills’ training for 100 youths in the state.

Gov. Abubakar Sani-Bello of the state declared the training open on Wednesday in Minna.

Bello said that the training was to equip the youths with skills needed to take up leadership positions in the state and the country at large.

He added that the training was to motivate the youths to participate in the political process and how to participate actively to the happenings in their environment.

“The training will discuss at length what leadership is about and how to get involved using every available opportunity. This training will also pave way for the youths on how to attain leadership positions,” he said.

The governor, however, noted that the problems of Nigeria were enormous as every sector in the country was corrupt, adding that no country or society can develop under corruption.

He added that the level of corruption in the country was endemic and urged the youths to contribute their quota to bring about positive change.

Bello also called on women to participate more in political process as people of impeccable character and as the most reliable people, adding that fighting corruption requires collective responsibility.

Mr Emmanuel Umar, the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, said the training was part of the state government efforts to engage and empower the youths with life skills.

He noted that the state government was committed to ensuring that youths were empowered and equipped with leadership skills required to make them take their rightful place in the society.
