Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, on Monday said the country remains firmly committed to deepening economic cooperation with strategic partners across the world, particularly in the wake of the just-concluded Korea–Africa High-Level Meeting and Business Forum in Seoul.
In a statement following a bilateral engagement with South Korea’s Foreign Minister, Cho Hyun, the Minister said the meeting provided an important platform for Nigeria’s delegation to express appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended by the South Korean government, including to President Lee Jae-myung at the conclusion of the summit.
According to her, discussions during the bilateral session also reinforced Nigeria’s strategic intention to diversify its economic partnerships and attract greater foreign investment into key sectors of its growing economy. She urged South Korean companies to take advantage of emerging opportunities in Nigeria, describing the country as a dynamic and rapidly expanding market with significant potential for industrial and technological collaboration.
Minister Cho, in response, reportedly underscored Nigeria’s importance as one of South Korea’s key economic partners on the African continent and reaffirmed his country’s readiness to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, and development collaboration.
The Minister also commended the efforts of Nigeria’s diplomatic mission in Seoul, expressing gratitude to the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, Ms. Jaho-Herbert Inex Omamoke, and other officials of the Nigerian Embassy in South Korea for what she described as their “exceptional dedication and professionalism” in ensuring Nigeria’s strong participation at the summit and business forum.
She further acknowledged the Nigerian community in South Korea for their engagement during the event and their constructive contributions, noting that their presence added value to Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic outreach.
The Korea–Africa High-Level Event, she added, produced a series of outcome-oriented engagements aimed at strengthening ties between both regions. She emphasized that Nigeria intends to build on the momentum generated from the meeting to further advance its foreign policy and economic diplomacy objectives.
“We intend to keep pushing,” the Minister stated, signaling continued engagement and follow-through on commitments made during the forum.
