Nigerians pay tributes to veteran broadcaster, Sadiq Daba

Tributes have poured in for veteran broadcaster and actor, Sadiq Daba who passed away on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021 at the age of 90.

Daba, who is popular for his role in Kunle Afolayan’s movie, October 1, died after a long balle with Leukemia and prostate cancer.

Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola and other Nigerians had supported Daba with fundraising after he went public with his illness in 2017.

The deceased worked with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for over 30years until he retired. He is also known for his role in a 70s soap opera, Cockcrow at Dawn.

Paying tributes to the late actor, former Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar wrote “Sad that the cock will no longer crow at dawn. Sadiq Daba, thank you for the joy you brought into our homes. May your sins be forgiven, and your memories be a blessing.”

Actress Joke Silva wrote, “Uncle Sadiq, you had a good run. I thank God that you worked till the end. Rest well dear friend. Rest well.”

Movie producer, Kunle Afolayan, wrote, “You will be missed, Uncle S. You made your mark”.

Veteran journalist and publisher, Dele Momodu wrote “My very dear Brother, you fought a gallant battle. Good night and rest in peace. Veteran Actor, Sadiq Daba is Dead.”

Twitter user, @ZahraMusa wrote “As a child I watch ‘Cock Crow at Dawn’ and Bitrus a teenager was my favorite character. Rest In Peace sir Sadiq Daba.”

@babsjolumo wrote: “And finally the cock will no longer crow @ dawn again… Sleep well Sadiq Daba. May gentle soul rest in prefect peace!.”
