NIPOST staff reject new boss, shut down head office in protest

The recent appointment of Tola Odeyemi as the postmaster general at the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has created tension within the service.

On Monday, the workers stormed the head office of NIPOST in Abuja and locked it down, preventing Odeyemi from resuming her duties.

The workers said they were not consulted or informed about Odeyemi’s appointment and they rejected her as their boss.

Earlier in a statement by NIPOST on Friday, Sunday Adepoju alleged that President Bola Ahmed reappointed him as Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned Rt. Honourable Adeyemi Sunday Adepoju as the Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), citing Adepoju’s sterling leadership and excellent performance during his stay in office as the reason for his reinstatement”, a statement from NIPOST reads.
