#NoWaterInEnugu: Residents lament scarcity of water

 

Enugu residents have lamented the scarcity of water in the state by trending #NoWaterInEnugu on social media.

Airing their grievances on microblogging platform, Twitter, the residents complained bitterly about long queues in getting water to carry out essential chores in their households.

According to some Twitter users, the situation did not begin recently and no solution has been proferred, making water expensive and mostly unavailable during the dry season in the state.

@chrispehn tweeted “They have boreholes in their houses, even bought tankers for water, they don’t care about the obiagu, abakpa, coal camp, agbani rd, etc person. commissioners, house of rep members cashin out daily on the thirstiness of its people in @Coal_City. Shame!”

@NsukkaOkpa tweeted: “This is a legit Question.. What is the solution to the lack of water problem in Enugu.. we all know how complex the geomorphology of the area is and how you may dig and not find water. what is the solution? Or do we keep dragging authority that won’t respond?”

@Ikennabush tweeted: “So many people go to work in Enugu without bathing…Na so water scarcity reach for this beautiful city. Where water dey kwanu? Most well has dried up.”

That is to tell you how bad it is for Ndi Enugu. To access water here, you would have to know someone that knows someone that has a water tanker.”
