NWFL Super Six: Bayelsa Queens suspend Technical Adviser, assistant

The management of Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa on Thursday said it had suspended indefinitely the club’s Technical Adviser, Moses Aduku, and his Assistant, Kingdom Ogbodan, with immediate effect.

Robin Aprela, the club’s chairman, disclosed in a statement released in Ijebu-Ode that the suspension was a result of gross misconduct and insubordination.

The development ostensibly came after Bayelsa Queens lost 0-4 to Rivers Angels at the ongoing 2020/2021 NWFL Premiership Super Six.

Aprela said the attitude and high-handedness of Aduku has had its negative impact on the team, leading to the indefinite suspension.

He added that the free hand given to the Technical Adviser to double as Team Manager before the emergence of the club’s newly-constituted management board made him think too highly of himself.

Aprela said this polarised the team’s camp.

“The Technical Adviser was accused of fielding a weak side in the match against Rivers Angels, whereby the two recognized central defenders were dropped without any injury.

“Also, the inclusion of the third-choice goalkeeper who has not played a single match so far this season was questionable.

“Moses Aduku was also accused of not working with his assistant as well as not taking administrative suggestions from the club chairman.”

He disclosed that the club management has however placed Ebiere Okoh and Izuogha Akren in charge as interim coach and assistant for the remainder of the season.

Aprela, however, apologized to the Bayelsa State Government and the team’s supporters over the club’s below-par performance and promised to reposition the team before the next season.

Bayelsa Queens had only garnered one point from a possible nine at the ongoing Super Six in Ijebu-Ode.

They drew 1-1 with Sunshine Queens FC of Akure on matchday 1, lost 0-2 to FC Robo of Lagos on matchday 2, and 0-4 to Rivers Angels on matchday 3.
