Oba of Benin maintains position on banning of CDA

...Calls for prayers for political leaders

From Ighomuaye Lucky, Benin City

The activities of the Community Development Association popularly known as CDA, prior the ascension of Oba Ewuare II to the throne, in October 2016, was so notorious.

A parcel of land was possibly sold to multiple buyers and money collected at random without recourse to the first buyer.

This ugly activity compelled prospective land developers to abandon the state to neighbouring states to build their houses and companies.

The Benin monarch, being displeased by the activities of the perpetrators, placed a ban on the activities of the CDAs.

This singular act of his, gladdened the hearts of the citizens of the state who were before now compelled to pay through their noses for a parcel of land which they had earlier paid for.

Some few individuals in various communities may think that Oba Ewuare II, may have forgotten that he has earlier placed a ban on their activities but the revered monarch has given them a shocker of the year.

The shocker came when he addressed the Benin Christian Community who was in his palace for a special prayer session to end the 2020 Universal Week of Prayer.

Ewuare II reaffirmed the ban on the CDA’s activities in Benin Kingdom noting that anyone who refuses to refrain from the activities of the disbanded CDA in Benin Kingdom will face the wrath of the land.

The King said the modest achievements recorded so far in Benin Kingdom was due to the power of God and the ancestors noting that he recognises the importance role of prayers in rulership.

He charged the people of the state to keep faith and hope alive as the trying moment would soon be overcome.

He further commended the chairman, Rev. Dr. Godspower Ogbonmwan and members of the Benin Christian Community for organising the prayer session and urged them not to relent in praying to God to grant the nation’s leaders at all levels wisdom and the ability to lead the people on the path of peace, unity and progress.

He described the prevailing cases of cultism, kidnapping, armed robbery and insecurity as temptations to test our faith and admonished the people to be closer to God.

Earlier in a short sermon titled  God’s Promise of Open Heaven,  Rev Osama Usualele who took his tex from  2Chronicle 6: 26-31 stressed that God dose not renege in fulfilling his promises to his children when  they truely  obey his commandments.

He maintained that absolute repentance from wicked ways is key for God’s forgiveness  and open  heaven of peace and blessings for the land.
