The convener of Ogun West Initiative, a socio-political advocacy group, Bolaji Adeniji, recently issued a stern warning to politicians sponsoring campaign of calumny against Senator Solomon Adeola because of his political ambition in 2027 saying their efforts will end up in futility.
Adeniji maintained that Yayi 2027 is God’s project and as such the plot against him will fail woefully. “Yayi is with God, and one with God is more than a majority. Yayi is with the people, and one with the people is a winner,” he assured.
The convener alleged that the attacks are being sponsored by politicians within the All Progressives Congress and opposition parties who feel threatened by the senator’s growing popularity across the state.
Speaking at a briefing in Abeokuta, Adeniji described Adeola, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, as a leader dedicated to expanding socio-economic development through infrastructural upgrades and empowerment programmes.
He recalled that the senator recently provided 102 communities across the state with new transformers, fully delivered and energised, and commissioned 90 additional projects across the five local governments of Ogun West.
“Rather than marketing their candidates for the 2027 governorship, these fifth columnists have resorted to churning out materials to denigrate the personality of Senator Adeola because they see him as a threat to their ambitions,” Adeniji said.
Adeniji confirmed that Yayi intends to contest the 2027 governorship election, warning those behind the mudslinging to desist.
“We have noted with aversion the rising tendencies by political opponents of Yayi, both within the APC and outside, to denigrate his personality unprovoked.”
“Materials are being churned out as direct, and sometimes deflected, attacks on his person, apparently sponsored by those threatened by his gigantic profile,” he said.
He further stated, “At this level of our political evolution, electoral contestation should be ideological, fact-based, and evidence-driven. But rather than pursue this, they have shamefacedly conceded defeat before the battle by pursuing ‘Operation Stop Yayi from Contesting.’ We even heard a coalition is being built and funds mobilised for that purpose.”
Adeniji concluded emphatically, “This plot against Yayi will fail woefully. Yayi is with God, and one with God is a majority. Yayi is with the people, and one with the people is a winner.”
“Ogun West Initiative advises naysayers, peddlers of falsehoods, and anti-Yayi campaigners to desist. They should focus on marketing their hopeful candidates in peace, emulating Yayi’s camp, which daily promotes its brand based on achievements, capacity, and ideas. ”
“Importantly, as a body, we will not hesitate to confront anyone who continues this obsession against Yayi. To every action, there is always an equal and opposite reaction.”
Yayi had earlier stated that it was too early to discuss the 2027 governorship race in Ogun State. Speaking during the annual New Year thanksgiving at Unity Cathedral, Ilaro, he emphasised that his focus remains on delivering campaign promises to his constituents.
On speculation about succeeding Governor Dapo Abiodun, Adeola stated, “I don’t think it is time for that now… The future will determine all of that.”
