Ogun Governor, Abiodun receives COVID-19 vaccine

 

Governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun has urged Nigerians to make themselves available to take the AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine.

Abiodun made the call on Tuesday after announcing via his official Twitter handle that he had received the vaccine on Monday.

The AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Nigeria on March 2nd, 2021 from the COVAX facility in India.

The governor tweeted: “I just had my dose of the Astra-Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine. The doses were delivered today in Abeokuta. It is first service to self then people, when we take the vaccine because we must silence the virus.”

“My Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele and two frontline health workers were also administered theirs.”

“Taking our doses is, first, service to self then to people, because we can only silence the virus if we think and act together. We should be aware that even our two doses don’t preclude the use of facemasks and compliance with other safety guidelines.”

“I urge us all to make ourselves available to take our doses, especially those prioritised by the NPHCDA on basis of profession, age or other criteria.”
