Senate adjourns for Easter break

Senate has adjourned till Tuesday, 13th April, 2021, for a three week Easter Break with an assurance that ongoing works on vital national bill will proceed unhindered.

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, who made this disclosure at the end of the plenary of the Red Chamber on Wednesday, 24th March, said the break is for only the plenary, adding that the 9th National Assembly will ensure that the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) and others receiving legislative are ready as scheduled.

“The PIB Committee is working to ensure that we receive its report as soon as we resume plenary. Our committee on the review of the constitution under the Deputy President of the Senate is working round the clock and so many other committees are working very hard. This (break) is for the plenary to be closed,” said Lawan.
