Olota of Ota, Oba Prof. Adeyemi AbdulKabir Obalanlege, and other Awori monarchs yesterday reaffirmed their support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) as the next governor of Ogun State, even as they received Peoples Democratic Party governorship hopeful, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, at his palace in Ota.
Adebutu, who visited the palace yesterday, August 18, to seek royal support ahead of the 2027 governorship election, was accorded full royal courtesies.
Oba Obalanlege warmly received Adebutu and hosted him in his inner chamber adorned with the insignia of the Olota stool. The PDP chieftain was later offered a seat beside the monarch under the Olota of Aworiland crest, while he later addressed the council of Awori Obas who were seated in the palace hall.
Despite the warm reception, the monarchs were firm in their political position.
Speaking on behalf of the Awori Obas, Oba Obalanlege told Adebutu that Ogun West has suffered what he described as indescribable marginalisation in the 50 years since the creation of Ogun State and that equity, fairness and justice demand that the zone produces the next governor.
He said the Awori traditional institution and their subjects, both indigenes and residents, have resolved to support the party and candidate whose agenda aligns with the interest of Ogun West to break what he termed an unwarranted jinx.
According to him, the monarchs have found the All-Progressives Congress candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, who holds the chieftaincy title of Okanlomo of Awori land, to be a reliable, competent and credible son of the soil capable of integrating Ogun West into the governance history of the state.
