Oluremi Tinubu: Delta nursing school withdraws query issued to student

The management of the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences, Agbor has withdrawn the query it issued to one of its students, Nurse Osato Edobor for reportedly publicising a video where students of the school rejected Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, as their “mother” during her visit to the state.

Recall that Tinubu was in Delta State as part of her Renewed Hope Initiative project.

Following the publication of the video, which the school regarded as demeaning to the president’s wife, the student nurse was queried.

In a statement by its provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, the College issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Edobor to explain why she shouldn’t be disciplined for publicising the video on social media.

In the letter addressed to the student, she was accused of engaging “in malicious recording/singing and posting an unofficial response to a song during the arrival of the First Lady (which was found on your TikTok page)”.

In another letter addressed to the student nurse, the provost said the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Joseph Onojaeme had intervened for her and directed that the school withdraw the query.

Signed by Ogonne, Edobor is required to return the query letter through the student affairs officer to the office of the provost.
