The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Honorable Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, has thrown her weight behind the Super Falcons quest for a record-extending 11th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco, urging the team to remain united, focused and determined throughout the competition.
In a goodwill message to the reigning African champions, the FCC Executive Chairman praised the Super Falcons for consistently flying Nigeria’s flag with distinction and inspiring millions of Nigerians through their resilience, discipline and excellence on the continental stage.
A respected figure in Nigerian sports administration and one of the country’s foremost advocates for women’s football, Hon. Omidiran is a former member of the Executive Board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), former member of the FIFA Women’s Football Committee, former Secretary of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Board of Trustees, Proprietor of Omidiran Babes, two-time Chairperson of the NFF Women’s Football Committee and former Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports.
Through these roles, she has consistently championed policies and initiatives that have advanced women’s football and youth sports development across Nigeria.
“As you begin your quest for another Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, I extend my unwavering support and best wishes to our gallant Super Falcons. You have consistently inspired Nigerians with your resilience, excellence and patriotic spirit,” Omidiran said.
She urged the players to approach every match with confidence, discipline and a winning mentality, stressing that Nigerians remain firmly behind the team as they pursue another historic triumph.
“The entire nation is behind you as you chase a record-extending 11th WAFCON crown. We believe in your ability to make Nigeria proud once again. Stay united, remain focused and continue to display the fighting spirit that has made the Super Falcons the pride of Africa.”
Hon. Omidiran further noted that the Super Falcons’ achievements have transcended football, inspiring countless young Nigerian girls to dream big and pursue careers in sports while demonstrating that determination, hard work and patriotism can overcome every obstacle. She also assured the players of the unwavering support and prayers of Nigerians throughout the tournament, expressing optimism that they would once again return home with the coveted continental trophy.
The Super Falcons begin their Group B campaign against Malawi before facing Zambia and Egypt as they seek to cement their status as Africa’s most successful women’s national team by winning an unprecedented 11th WAFCON title.
