Ondo Communities excited over erection of Barricades on roads

The quick intervention of the Ondo state government on the erection of Barricades along the University Community of Akungba-Ikare road to prevent usage by articulated Vehicles plying the road has been applauded by residents of Akoko communities in the northern senatorial area of Ondo state.

They described Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s administration on matters of security of lives and properties as one of the legacies he would be remembered for after his tenure.

Some concerned leaders and stakeholders in the area said any responsive government must try to emulate the present administration in the state.

The Chairman, Ikare-Akoko Elders Forum,M.r James Oladetohun, and the Seriki of Akungba-Akoko, Chief Saliu Awesu noted that the incessant trailer accidents at Okerigbo-Akungba that had claimed the lives of many University students, traders, and residents had now stopped due to the governor’s proactive efforts of proffering solution with the erection of barricades.

He also directed security men to monitor the violators.

According to them, since the action was taken, road accidents in the area had reduced drastically.
They noted that the action has made trailers and long vehicles to divert to the alternative route of Akunu-Isua-Ifira-Idoani to Orita Ipele .

They appealed to governor Akeredolu to approach the Federal government for the rehabilitation of Orita-Ipele-Idoani-Ifira-Akunu to Ayere for the smooth passage of heavy-duty vehicles that are carrying goods to the Northern parts of the country.
