Ondo decries Gender Based Violence

Ondo state government has condemned in strong terms, the recent increase in all forms of Gender-Based Violence in society.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender, Mrs Olamide Falana in a statement particularly expressed displeasure at the news of a victim of domestic violence in Owo LGA of Ondo State.

She pleaded with victims of domestic violence, either male or female to have the courage to speak about their plight and not die in silence.

Falana assured of the commitment of the Ondo State Government to support and protect victims through the establishment of Ondo State Agency Against Gender-Based Violence (OSAA-GBV).

OSAA-GBV is the state agency saddled with the responsibility of sexual and gender-based violence. The agency which enjoys the full support of the Government of the State is fully functional with a system for prompt response to cases.

In her advice to shun living a life of deception, especially on social media, the Governor’s aide urged victims to also reach out to Advocacy Agencies in their vicinity.

She described domestic violence as a negative norm that should be discouraged in the formation period of Children.

Besides, Falana berates the act of cohabitation trending among young ladies as such habit exposes them to emotional and sexual violence.

She enjoined teeming youth to notify parents of their movements.
