The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Sector Command, has decorated no fewer than 176 newly promoted senior officers and men across the state.
Dr Samuel Ibitoye, FRSC Ondo State Sector Commander, who decorated the officers and men on Thursday in Akure, said 50 senior officers and 126 marshals were promoted from different ranks in the recent promotion exercise.
Ibitoye charged the officers and men to see the elevation as responsibility for service delivery and ensure better diligence in duties instead of an advancement in rank
According to him, the primary objective of the new ranks is for the officers and men to improve corps functionality, resilience, and service delivery to the Nigeria public.
“In Ondo State alone, five officers were elevated from the rank of Chief Route Commander (CRC) to Assistant Corps Commander (ACC) and seven officers from Superintendent Route Commander (SRC) to Chief Route Commander (CRC)
“Also, seven officers promoted from Route Commanders (RC) to Superintendent Route Commander (SRC); 18 from Deputy Route Commander (DRC) to Route Commander (RC); and 13 Assistant Route Commander (ARC) to Deputy Route Commander (DRC).
“Meanwhile, in men category, 126 marshalls were promoted which consists of one Assistant Chief Inspector elevated to Deputy Chief Inspector; five Principal Marshal Inspector to Assistant Chief Inspector and five Senior Marshal Inspector to Principal Marshal Inspector.
“Also, eight Marshal Inspector 1 elevated to Senior Marshal Inspector ; 21 Marshal Inspector 2 to Marshal Inspector 1; 14 Marshal Inspector 3 to Marshal Inspector 2; 14 Deputy Chief Road Marshal Assistant to Chief Road Marshal Assistant
“Others are seven Senior Road Marshal Assistant elevated to Deputy Road Marshal Assistant; 48 Road Marshal Assistant 1 to Senior Road Marshal Assistant and three Road Marshal Assistant 2 to Road Marshal Assistant 1.
“So, all officers and men are expected to double their efforts in road safety advocacy, enforcement, engineering audits, and public collaboration to reduce Road Traffic Crashes (RTC).
“To whom much is given, much is expected, so that the corps will have better performance, especially on the highways,” he said.
Ibitoye, therefore, called on those who were not included in the promotion to increase their performance and dedication.
“The ultimate goals is to ensure that all personnel contribute effectively towards reducing highway accidents and enhancing overall operational efficiency within the corps,” he said.
Mr Michael Adigun, Former FRSC Corps Commander, who adviced the newly promoted personnel to maintain high performance and diligence, said continued advancement depends on hardwork and constant vigilance while assisting motorists.
Also, ACC Opeyemi Adigun, who spoke on behalf of the officers, expressed gratitude to the corps for recognising thier commitment and hard work through the elevation.
He, therefore, pledged renewed allegiance and increased dedication to the service of humanity and the nation.(NAN)
