
The staff of INEC have taken refuge from the rain which destroyed some election materials in Ijebu area of Owo Local Government of Ondo State.
The heavy rainfall which disrupted the election process for a while has abated. INEC staff struggled to secure the voting materials. Voters also ran for shelter but reports say that voting has commenced.
NAN observes that INEC is following COVID-19 protocol. Voters are mandated to wear nose masks and provision has been made for hand sanitizers and soap for handwashing.
Social distancing was also observed and branded face mask, prohibited. Voters are checked for temperature before voting and INEC staff said that any voter showing COVID-19 symptoms would be excused from the queue.
Speaking with newsmen, Opeyemi Amadu, Presiding Officer, Ijebu 2 Unit 006 Ward 5, said that accreditation and voting would go on simultaneously. The first vote in that polling unit was cast around 8:51 am.
