Orbih flags off construction of 7th PH flyover

The National Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, on Friday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, turned the sod for the construction of the Nkpolu-Oroworukwo flyover at the Olu Obasanjo end of Ikwerre Road.

It will be the seventh flyover project that the Government of Governor Nyesom Wike would be executing in Port Harcourt in the last 16 months. The others are located along Aba Road and the East-West Road at Okoro-nu-Odo in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The eighth flyover project, according to Governor Wike will be flagged off on Saturday at the popular Waterlines intersection of Aba road connecting with Olu Obasanjo Road. The contracts for the two flyovers were executed with Julius Berger Nigeria PLC at the value of N1.,4 billion and they are expected to be completed in 12 months.

Wike said at the ceremony that the flyovers were part of an urban renewal programme expected to improve the value of properties in the city and attract huge investments that will create employment and boost the local economy.

He promised not to abandon the projects as well as other projects that his government is embarking on. “I won’t leave any project for succeeding governments. Let every government carry its own burden,” he said.

Chief Orbih said Wike has demonstrated courage and commitment that have not only bettered things for Rivers State, but have also proved that Nigeria had the right leadership to make it work again.
