Orhionmwon set to get first Area Command

As part of measures to make Edo State safe for the people and investors, the Edo government through its interventionist agency, the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC), has assured of the speedy completion of the Police Area Command in Uromehe, which is the first Area Command office in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State since the advent of democracy in the state.

EDSOGPADEC chairman, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, gave the assurance on behalf of the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, at Uromehe in Orhionmwon Local Government Area, while leading the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Police Command, Philip Ogbadu, who was represented by his Deputy in-charge of Operations, Miller Dantawaye. Other personalities on the inspection tour of the newly converted Divisional Headquarters to the Area Command Office, were members of EDSOGPADEC board.

Addressing the Commissioner of Police, the EDSOGPADEC Chairman said though the structure was meant for the Divisional Headquarters, but having considered the fact that there was no existing Area Command Office in the the Local Government Area, the state government, through EDSOGPADEC, opted for the building to serve the people in securing lives and properties effectively and efficiently.

He said the building was in line with the laid down specifications of the Governor, especially with regards to the Make Edo Great Again (MEGA), agenda, adding that it will enhance formidable security architecture in the locality to compete with the international best practices.

Osifo, asserted that plans were on top gear to provide accommodation for the officers to be posted to the area command.

Dantawaye, who represented his boss, expressed appreciation to Governor Obaseki for rescuing the people and giving succour to the police. He pointed out that the Area Command’s building was amazing, particularly against the backdrop of the serene environment and the standard facilities, which according to him, will propel the officers posted to the office to achieve the set objectives of adequate policing.

Also, the Uromehe elders and people, thanked Gov. Obaseki and the EDSOGPADEC for remembering them, especially in view of the fact that it was the first laudable achievement in the area. They said the building would speed up the development of the area.

Charles Aideyan, who represents Orhionmwon on the board, said he was delighted to be part of the success story. He assured of more projects to be sited in the area and thanked Governor Obaseki for his transformational feats

Pastor Osifo said the construction of Uromehe Police Station started 12 years ago by the previous administrations of the board without being completed, but that this present administration changed the narratives by completing it to a befitting structure, stressing that Orhionmwon people deserve the best.
