The Vice-Chancellor, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, OAUSTECH, Okitipupa, Ondo State, Prof. Temel Ologunorisa, has observed that the Nigerian Government and other stakeholders in the education sector must work hand in hand to ensure that the Nigerian education system in the 21st century is skilled-driven.
Prof. Ologunorisa spoke while interacting with some youths from Ondo State who paid him a courtesy call.
The award-winning climate and environmental scientist stressed that the era of theories without significant practical knowledge and training has gone.
He said: “Our education must be focused, skill-driven, and sustainable if the government means well for the citizens and younger generation of Nigerians.”
The University Administrator, who noted that his coming to OAUSTECH was divinely premised on the fact that he did not know anyone or lobby for the appointment
He expressed optimism t that the University would prosper despite all odds.
He said”There is no insurmountable problem. I left my comfort zone. I took the VC job to help people, touch lives, and make a change,”
Prof. Ologunorisa disclosed that the University under his watch would introduce more academic and postgraduate programs to grow the students’ population.

“We will run certificate and diploma courses in Data Processing, in addition to degree courses in Basic Medical Sciences, Management Science, Marine Science and Technologies, Environmental Studies and professional postgraduate programs.
And we will make our students bilingual by teaching and issuing them certificates of proficiency in the French Language to start with,” Prof. Ologunorisa submitted
