The Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has deployed Police intervention and Stabilization Forces to Oyo State to reclaim the public space, reinforce security and bolster public confidence in the areas affected by the recent crisis in the State.
Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of South West, David Folawiyo has been directed to coordinate the operations, which includes the deployments of intelligence, operational assets of the Force, consisting of four (4) Units of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), seasoned operatives from the Force Intelligence Bureau and an operational/surveillance Police helicopter from the Police Air-wing department, with the aim of returning sanity to Oyo.
The Intervention Force according to a statement issued by Police headquarters and signed by Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, a Commissioner of Police, is charged with the responsibility of reinforcing and stabilizing security in the State and preventing further breakdown of law and order.
The DIG Folawiyo led squad will further ensure protection of lives and properties and as well public safety and general security in the State, while mobilizing all relevant stakeholders towards achieving the mandate of the squad.
While the IGP assures that the Force is committed to the safety of lives and properties of the citizens in the country, he charges the people and residents of the state to embrace peace and cooperate with the Police and the security community as they redouble their efforts in ensuring that sustainable peace and security are restored to the affected areas.
