Wike expresses confidence in Obaseki remaining in PDP

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said that Godwin Obaseki has promised he won’t leave the PDP again.

He said this while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday.

“It is impossible, but assuming it happens, so what? That is politics. There is nothing wrong if the governor believes that PDP is no longer the party for him to actualise his vision and mission.

“But he has consistently told us that there’s no way he will leave PDP. If he does, for example, the people of Edo State will not be happy and he is somebody I have that trust in.

“The party clothed him and when it was raining gave him the umbrella,” he said.

“APC is not a political party. It’s people who came together to take power from PDP. That is the crisis they are having together.

“It’s a party of strange bedfellows that came together to conspire against the former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan,” he claimed.

For the recently concluded Edo elections, Obaseki contested under the PDP umbrella whereas, for the last election, he contested under the main opposition party, APC.

He led the elections and won a second term with over 80, 000 votes to beat Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the APC who contested with the PDP during the last elections.
