Ossai Ovie Success, an aide to Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has lamented the absence of the usual fanfare on the birthday of former First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan.
Mrs Jonathan celebrated her birthday on Monday, October 25.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the governor’s aide lamented the absence of adverts in newspapers and social media posts celebrating the former First Lady.
Ossai stated further that people only celebrate those they benefit from.
He wrote: “No adverts on newspapers to celebrate our Former First Lady Patience Jonathan on her birthday yesterday,”
“Yesterday was our Former First Lady Patience Jonathan Birthday but No adverts on newspapers, enough Posts on Social Media to celebrate our Former First Lady Patience Jonathan on her birthday
“As a First Lady, she was so famous, helpful and humble. I personally had an encounter with her and I can testify to the fact that she was so good as First Lady. She gave us happiness and made us forget the challenges we were facing as a country then. She was a supportive wife who wanted the best for this country.
“Her birthday then was like a carnival and a lot of persons who were benefiting from her and those who want to benefit from her were sponsoring adverts on the pages of newspapers, social media.
“But today the story is different because she can no longer help some of them. Where are those governors, Ministers, Senators, Aides, Contractors who paid for adverts to celebrate her then on her birthday?
“Yesterday they were nowhere to be found. Even those who benefited from her then who normally post on social media to celebrate couldn’t post yesterday as I was watching them closely.

“Those in power and those not in power should learn from this. People will celebrate and impress you when they are benefiting or want to benefit from you. We should be wise not to be carried away with power, fame and position
“We should understand that the position we are occupying was once occupied by someone and someone will still come and occupy that position
“We shouldn’t allow people blackmail others before us, we should not maltreat others, we should not deprive others of privileges or opportunities of being blessed or assisted because we have the power to do so
“A lot of persons who are clapping for us today won’t be there to clap for us tomorrow when the power is no longer there or when we are not no longer helping them
“USE YOUR POWER, FAME, MONEY WISELY
“Dear mama P, you are an amazing woman and you are a source of inspiration to the younger generation
“May Almighty God continue to bless and keep you in good health. Happy birthday Mama P.. We miss you.”
