PDP Rep member decamps to APC

A member of the People’s Democratic Party, Honorable Sam Onuigbo representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/ South Federal Constituency of Abia state in the House of Representatives has defected from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress,.APC

He said his reason was because there is division in the party.

 According to him,  prominent members of the party have also left for APC due to internal party squabbles

But Minority leader of the PDP in the House House, Ndudi Elumelu  disagreed with Hon Onuigbo in a point  of order he raised.

He told speaker Femi Gbajabiamila who also ruled him out of order, that there was no crisis in the party in the ward and local government area as claimed by the decamped

According to the minority leader, the national  organizing secretary of the PDP comes from the same area as Honorable Onuigbo. He also drew the speaker’s attention to the Supreme Court ruling  and provisions  of the Constitution concerning defection.

Elumelu also  cautioned the House on the bad precedents that could be set by the constant approval of the defections by the presiding officer, irrespective of the party that the action is benefiting
