The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed March 29 and 30 for its crucial national convention, as it commenced the sale of nomination forms to interested aspirants.

The decision was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the party’s 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, signalling its readiness for the exercise.

The communiqué, signed by the Chairman of the National Caretaker Working Committee, Abdulrahman Mohammed, and Secretary, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, urged aspirants to adhere strictly to the party’s guidelines.

“All interested aspirants are advised to comply with the approved guidelines and timelines as issued by the Party,” the statement said.

NEC reaffirmed its preparedness for the convention and directed all relevant organs to ensure a smooth and credible process, themed “A Convention of Inclusiveness, Unity and Renewal.”

The party also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of its ward, local government, state and zonal congresses nationwide, describing them as peaceful and transparent.

Speaking earlier, Mohammed underscored the convention’s significance, describing it as pivotal to the party’s future.

“This convention is not merely a routine exercise; it is a critical milestone that will shape the future direction of our party,” he said.

He added that the PDP had made notable progress in stabilising its internal structures despite recent challenges, urging members to remain united ahead of the convention.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mao Ohuabunwa, highlighted the importance of ongoing reforms, particularly the electronic membership registration.

“A credible membership register is the foundation of any serious political organisation. It enhances planning, transparency and builds confidence among members,” Ohuabunwa stated.

The NEC further reaffirmed the party’s zoning arrangement for national elective positions, describing it as consistent with its principles of equity, fairness and inclusiveness.

It also called on members to remain disciplined and committed, expressing confidence in the party’s renewed strength and readiness to provide national leadership.
