Life is gradually returning to normal in Cross River State as the governor, Professor Ben Ayade further relaxes the curfew imposed on the state
The state which has been renowned for it’s tourism and night life has seen this sector of its economy grind to a halt as a result of the curfew
The curfew was imposed following an orgy of violence which trailed the EndSARS protests and led to the destruction of no fewer than 60 public and private properties.
Some of the properties destroyed include the Calabar office of WAEC, Cross River Basin Development Authority, NTA Channel 9 Calabar, ITF Calabar Area office, three branches of two first generation banks among others
The curfew which was initially a twenty four hours curfew was later reduced sixteen hours but has now been further reduced to eight hours by the governor
The state governor in a statement made available in Calabar by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Christian Ita has further reviewed the hours of the curfew
The statement read in part: “His Excellency Sir Ben Ayade has further relaxed the curfew imposed in the state.
“Starting from tomorrow, Sunday, November 8, 2020, curfew will now be between the hours of 10pm and 6am.
“Consequently, restriction of movement is now relaxed between the hours of 6am and 10pm.
“By this development, members of the public are free to go about their businesses from 6am to 10pm”, it added
