Philip Aduda thanks Tinubu, Wike, FCT residents after emerging APC senatorial candidate

The All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate for the Federal Capital Territory, Philip Tanimu Aduda, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and residents of the FCT following his emergence as the party’s candidate for the 2027 Senate election.
In a statement issued on Thursday after the APC Senate primary election held on May 18, 2026, Aduda described the support he received during the exercise as a demonstration of the people’s confidence in his ability to provide quality representation and champion people-oriented legislation.
“I wish to sincerely appreciate the good people of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the overwhelming support I received throughout my campaign and for the confidence reposed in me during the Senate primaries of the FCT held on the 18th of May, 2026,” he said.
Aduda said the outcome of the primary election reflected the desire of FCT residents for “competent, capable, and people-focused leadership” that understands the aspirations and development needs of the people.
He lamented what he described as the absence of a strong and effective voice for the FCT in the Senate in recent years, noting that it had affected the welfare and development aspirations of residents.
“For the past three years, the FCT has lacked a strong and effective voice in the Senate, and this has greatly affected the welfare, aspirations, and development desires of our people,” he stated.
The former senator pledged to work towards bringing the FCT closer to the centre of national development while supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
He also commended the ongoing infrastructure and administrative reforms in the territory, including the expansion of satellite towns, improvements in electricity and water supply, reforms in the FCT civil service, and the removal of the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account.
According to him, the achievements recorded in the territory were made possible through the leadership of Wike.
“These remarkable achievements have been made possible under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike. On behalf of the people, I sincerely appreciate his commitment, dedication, and genuine love for the development of the FCT and its people,” Aduda said.
He also appreciated other aspirants who participated in the primary election for their sportsmanship and commitment to the unity of the party.
Aduda further thanked President Tinubu, Wike, and Dr. Mrs. Amina Zanna Ibrahim for their support during the contest.
“My special appreciation goes to Mr. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through our Leader, H.E Ezenwo Nyesom Wike on whose mandate and that of the people we stood,” he stated.
The APC candidate pledged to provide purposeful representation for residents of the FCT through legislation and policies aimed at improving welfare, creating scholarship opportunities for youths, and facilitating employment opportunities for young people.
“My covenant with the people of the FCT is clear: I promise to provide purposeful and people-oriented representation through the promotion of bills and policies that will improve the standard of living of our people,” he added.
