
A phone repairer, Sunday Adeleke, who allegedly obtained personal information from an iPad and used it to withdraw N500,000, on Monday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos.
Adeleke, 30, of No 13, Ido-Elemu St., Era Awori, Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy and stealing.
Adeleke, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that Adeleke committed the offenses with some others still at large on July 26, 2021, at No 2, Olomowewe St., Itire, Surulere, Lagos.
Ekhueorohan alleged that Adeleke who was believed to be a phone repairer obtained personal financial information from an iPad he was given to repair.
He said Adeleke allegedly used the information he got to withdraw the sum of N500,000 and also took possession of the iPad worth N1 million, property of one Taiwo Samson.

The offenses, the prosecutor said, contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Sadiq Bello, granted Adeleke bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the matter until March 10 for a substantive trial.
