Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo, the Chairman of th in Plateau, has visited the victims of the recent attacks in Jos who are being treated at various hospitals.
Lubo, who visited some of the victims on Thursday at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital (BUTH), Our Lady of Apostles Hospital and Plateau Specialist Hospital, all in Jos, urged them to forgive their attackers.
The Chairman thanked God for sparing their lives and encouraged them to use what happened to them to preach peace at all times.
“First, I want to thank God for sparing their lives and to encourage them to preach peace at all times.
“I want to specifically ask them to forgive their attackers, because only through genuine forgiveness, we can have absolute peace that we desire.
“If we continue to have reprisals, I assure you we will continue to get it wrong, because forgiveness is the way to go in every peace process.
“What happened is evil, but as Christians and Muslims, we are all taught by our holy books to forgive our brothers and sisters when they wrong us,” he said.
Lubo, who commended the security agencies for their prompt response during the Rukuba road killings, urged them to do same in other areas where attacks and killings are currently ongoing.
“It took attackers 52 hours to successfully kill many, injure scores, razed down houses and destroy farmlands in Miango, yet there was no intervention from the security agencies.
“So, I call on them to be fair to all citizens; we urge them to treat everyone equally because we are all human beings and Nigerians,” he said.
Lubo also advised journalists to be professional in their reportage, adding that their reports could make or mar the peace process of the government.
The chairman thanked the various hospitals for accepting to treat the victims not minding their religious inclination and urged them to keep up with the good work.
Earlier, Prof. Stephen Anzaku, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of BUTH, represented by Dr Nuhu Tunba, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of the hospital, thanked Lubo for the visit.
Anzaku called the Christian body to support it in terms of logistics to able to cater for all the needs of the patients.
