Plateau crisis: Gov Lalong orders 24 hours curfew in Jos North

As a result of the destruction of properties by hoodlums in Jos North Local government, the Plateau state government on Sunday ordered another 24 hours curfew in the council.

Governor Lalong in a statement signed by Simon Macham his director of Press and  Public Affairs further said that hours after announcing dusk to dawn curfew in three Local Government Areas of Jos North, Jos South and Bassa, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has directed the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Jos North to contain further security threats.

<span;>The statement also reads that the directive reads that from 2 pm on Sunday, a 24-hour curfew will come into effect in Jos North Local Government Area.

<span;>”This is necessitated by security reports which indicate rising threats to the safety of lives and properties within the Local Government”. ”

<span;>The Governor, therefore, urges citizens to abide by the curfew and remain indoors to allow security agencies to maintain law and order and deal with those bent on causing chaos.

<span;>The Governor says the 24-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government will remain in force until further notice.

<span;>Meanwhile troops of Operation Safe Haven on Sunday said it rescued 7 more victims of the Rukubu Road attack on commuters on Saturday.

A statement signed by Major Ishaku Gaji Takwa the Military Information Officer reads that victims have been taken to a safe place for medical attention and care.

The statement further added that the troops are still on a search operation to get the remaining missing victims.
