Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev Yakubu Pam on Thursday expressed delight over the critical role of journalists in the peace and stability of Nigeria.

He made this known when the executive members of the Plateau State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), paid him a courtesy call in his office.
The Executive Secretary, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Relations, Pam Ayuba, said that he was not ashamed of journalists in Plateau State, whom he described as peacemakers, for managing the crisis on the Plateau professionally in their reportage.
‘The NCPC boss stated that the Journalists in Plateau State have always stood tall in times of crisis in the State. According to him, “you have ensured that news is disseminated objectively and this has brought about peace and unity in the Plateau”, He added, “you have conducted yourselves very well to keep the culture of professional reporting”.

Rev Pam explained that Plateau State is a mini Nigeria reflecting different tribes, religion, and culture, stating that anybody who can rule Plateau State can as well rule Nigeria successfully.
The Executive Secretary intimated that the Commission would partner with Plateau State NUJ to promote peace and professional journalism in the country. He further stated that he would ensure that the people of Plateau gets the good result of what the NUJ is doing.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Plateau State Council, Mr. Paul Jatau said that the reason for their visit was to collaborate, interact and exchange ideas with the Executive Secretary and the Commission. He added that the NUJ is aware of the milestone Rev. Pam had made in the area of peace building in the country.
He urged the Executive Secretary to continue to be the beacon of peace in Nigeria, especially now that the country is going through hard times. In his words, “we urge you to use your good offices to reach out to whoever you can to help bring back peace to our dear country”.
The Chairman of the NUJ, Mr. Paul Jatau was accompanied on the visit by all the Executive Members of the Council.
