Playwright takes “Iyaloja” to stage

Mr. Omotayo Aderinola, a Lagos-based playwright, in a statement issued on Monday, said he is set to enact his latest play, “Iyaloja” on stage.

Aderinola, who is also the publisher of Lagos Panorama, a Lagos-based online community news medium, said that audition for the stage play would open on Sept. 17, 2021, in Lagos.

According to him,  the command performance for “Iyaloja” is scheduled for Oct. 23.

He added that the stage play would offer opportunities to no fewer than  200 budding artists to showcase their talents.

“The audition will enable budding talents in the creative and performing arts to take part in the stage performance.

“The play accommodates over 250 casts.

“We have selected some veterans artists like Jide Kosoko, Mrs. Lanre Hassan (Iya Awero), Mrs. Idowu Philips (Iya Rainbow), and a host of others to mentor the upcoming artists, ” he said.

The media report that the “Iyaloja ” playbook is a story about the life and times of late Abibatu Mogaji (1926-2013), who had a long spell as leader of market men and women, first in Lagos, and later, nationwide.
