
The Police on Wednesday arraigned three unemployed youths in a Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for allegedly stealing an Itel mobile phone.
The police charged Mustapha Nasiru, 21; Sabiu Bala, 20; and Hamisu Abdullahi, 22, all of no fixed address, on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Asp. Fidelis Ogbobe told the court that on Oct. 1, at about 2:00 p.m., Nasiru, Bala, and Abdullahi, conspired among themselves to snatch the complainant’s mobile phone valued at N25, 000, and ran away with it.
Ogbobe revealed that the complainant was Usman Abdulsalam, of the FCT College of Education, Zuba, Abuja.
The prosecutor alleged that the phone was discovered in the 1st defendant’s possession.
He said the offense contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, Chioma Amanwachi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
Amanwachi also ordered that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and provide an affidavit of means.
The magistrate adjourned the matter until Oct. 20, for hearing.
